剧情简介
本剧改编自Thomas Mallon的同名小说，包含爱情故事及政治惊悚元素，记录了在麦卡锡时代华盛顿的阴影下，两个截然不同的男子结识后，他们之间变化无常的浪漫史。 Hawkins Fuller是一个帅气、魅力非凡的男子，他在政治圈里保持着一份收入不凡的幕后工作。Hawkins向来避免陷入情感纠葛，直至他认识了Tim Laughlin，一个满心理想主义和宗教信仰的年轻人。两人恋情开始之际，恰逢约瑟夫·麦卡锡和罗依·科恩向“颠覆分子”和“性变态者”宣战，开启了20世纪美国历史上最黑暗的时期之一。在40年的时间里，Hawkins和Tim在各种场合产生交集——1960年代的越南战争抗议活动、1970年代由毒品引发的迪斯科享乐主义，以及1980年代的艾滋病危机，与此同时，他们面对着来自世界和自身的重重阻碍。
